POLITICIANS THINK THEY CAN DO ANYTHING.

This is a picture of someone you'd think would help make the world (or if not, at least our country) a better place. CLICK THIS and you'll know what I mean. I found out about this from other blogs and I just couldn't contain myself.

I DON'T GET IT. Just because they get to add a plain word such as Congressman or Mayor or whatever, they become instant gods after election? How do they differ from regular people? Doing something as low as mauling a defenseless 56-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy because of a heated discussion isn't very becoming of a man whom people (who also happen to be taxpayers) entrust the betterment of their city to. Hmm well let alone any person at all! In the first place, he wouldn't even be in that position if the voters didn't choose him to be the mayor. This wasn't the first time I came across this story though. It's everywhere!

A few days ago, I watched One Night Only. I'm not really a fan of Filipino movies but seeing it as an entry to a Film Festival and an opportunity to support Philippine art, I watched it just the same. I was disappointed. Anyway let me just bring you to the part of the movie that is relevant to my blog. There was a scene where the mayor or some politician who couldn't get in the motel. He simply said who he was and breezed right in. Since when did the title come along with a pass go anywhere and do anything? Okay fine, politicians could be like the "royalties" of the country. But I believe that they are granted certain benefits because THESE PEOPLE EARN THEM. They make decisions to help make the country (or whatever they rule) progress. Benefits are things done in return. Power can blind people I guess. The thought is just frustrating. I believe that our country has all the potential in the world to grow, it's just that the people don't do anything great enough to make it happen.

Will it always be like this? They say that "Ang mga kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan" How can they do that if the elders don't provide them with enough examples and reasons to be "pag-asas ng bayan". In the blog, this mayor's father was also there (who happened to be a secretary of some Department. Pardon my ignorance) but instead of putting an end to the fight, let it go on as if it were a match between Pacquiao and de la Hoya. The elders, persuade their children to do the same things all over again. So when will the "pag-asas" come? How many generations will the country let pass? What happened to NOW?

Inefficiency isn't so bad...

...When it comes to getting my retainers :))
Hahaha when I got my retainers last April, my ortho warned me to NEVER EVER put them in a tissue roll/napkin when eating at a restaurant because I'd most likely lose them. She gave me this green shiny retainer case for me to put them in so that I won't lose or forget them.

"Your retainer case should be like your cellphone. BRING IT EVERYWHERE YOU GO."

I swear, she could never say it enough. She told me that she had patients who really had to dig through the trash to get back their retainers, because having them replaced would be crazy. They cost a whole lot of money. Everytime she'd mention that, I'd always shrug in my mind saying that I couldn't forget them ever.

HA HA HA. I was wrong.

I went Christmas shopping for myself. Four hours of going up and down, left and right was no joke. Four hours aren't enough you see, I need A LOT of time to decide so it was extra hard knowing that I only had so little time. When I had to meet up with the rest of my family I was pretty tired. We met up at Coffee Experience and mom let me eat Caramel Popcorn. I forgot my retainer case so I wrapped them in a piece of paper napkin so I could eat the popcorn. After eating them, we left the mall for home. I was the last to stand and even looked back to check if we forgot anything. Nothing. Okay great. It was a pretty long walk and as we were nearing the parking lot,

"OH SHOOT ! MY RETAINEEEEERS !"

I ran across the street (with a lot of cars I might add), up the escalator, around the mall and to Coffee Experience all the while trying to push away the image of me having to dig in the trash. I DID NOT WANT TO DO THAT OKAY. HAHA ! My heart was beating so hard as I got to the cafe, to our table. It still wasn't fixed up. BIG THANK GOD. I saw the paper napkin under the table, picked it up and went to the car.

Ha, who would've thought I'd be thankful that the people working there were lazy? :)) HAHA

I HATE THESE THINGS !

Okay so just a few days ago, I attended the press conference in Lumban, Laguna together with other staff members of the Variations. I never really thought of it as a big deal since we had so many things to worry about back in Makiling. Since our photojournalists couldn't come to the event, Janine and I joined that event since we could learn how to use a manual SLR (they didn't allow digital cameras for the competition). Janine's been using an SLR for over a year already so it was actually me who needed A LOT of work to learn how to use it in time for the press con.

Well thanks to books and the manual I did learn how to work it in time for the press con! Fast forward to the awarding. Janine placed 1st in photojournalism in Filipino while I placed 3rd in English. Not bad for a first timer, eh? We could've gone home happy with our victory! (Var bagged almost all 1st place awards too) But what kept us from totally celebrating was the fact that we had to move on to the regional competition. It was scheduled on December 1-5 together with our batch outreach to Camarines Sur wherein we will be conducting workshops.

I find myself caught between my two loves:
spending time with my batchmates, whom I will be away from soon when we graduate and spreading theater to others.

and

photography, the opportunity of putting what I've learned to the test against other photojournalists.

I Learned Something New About the World

It took three things to change my day and my life:

A tricycle

My 6300 cellphone

A hundred bucks.

I went to the Celebrity Sports Club with my majormates and Kuya Obi. After an afternoon of swimming, we headed home to Clyde's crib. We called a tricycle to take us to the main road.
Fast forward to the jeep around ten minutes away from where we were dropped off when I realized that my pocket was unusually light. After checking my pockets and bag, my eyes went O_o

"OH C**P, my phone's gone."

Let me rephrase that,

"OH C**P, my phone's gone. AGAIN!"

I swear I couldn't feel anything anymore. I couldn't believe it happened again only after losing my other phone four months ago. I couldn't imagine what my parents would say. After minutes of staring blankly into space, I snapped back to reality as I heard my friends talking to me about my phone. Janine was calling my phone and it kept on ringing.

I was 99.9% hopeless.

"Hello po?"
The tricycle driver answered it. I wasn't actually able to talk to him but then the next thing I knew, I was with Kuya Obi taking a jeep to the opposite direction. Everything went all so fast and I couldn't believe that I was actually going to see my phone again. Nevermind the thick clouds of smoke that I inevitably kept inhaling, all I could think of was the fact that there's hope!

We met up with Kuya Jun (whom I later learned was the Vice President of the TODA thing) and there he gave my phone with a really big smile.

KUYA JUN: Pabalik na ako nang narinig kong may tumutunog diyan (pointing at the side car).

some other kuya tricycle driver: Naku kung napunta yan sa ibang tricycle, siguradong napaginteresan yang cellphone mo! Mabait talaga yang si Vice!

I seriously felt like the luckiest person at that moment. We rode his tricycle on the way back to the main road. Kuya Obi whispered to me that it would be best to give him a token for thanks. Unfortunately, I was really running low on cash but I gave my hundred bill as payment and more. At that time that was the only thing I could give in return.

We took a cab going back and there was nothing but a big toothy smile plastered on my face. I just couldn't believe it.

When Ibarangs play

I was never a fan of sports. I would always find it boring to watch and actually playing would never cross my mind because I wasn't born with the capacity to help my team win a game. So yeah, unlike most people, PE was never my favorite subject. All these thoughts sort of changed when I went to Makiling. In PE, we were graded based on our efforts so it was never an issue for us non-sporty people to become super sporty people come exams. We just always tried our best. When the Sports fest came around in my freshman year, I only looked forward to it because I knew that it was going to be a break from school work. Sure, I joined a game or two and I remember it was cheering and Word Factory maybe. :)) That's how much I sucked. In my sophomore year, things started changing because I actually started playing! Well, I started playing not because I was good at sports all of a sudden but because our team would be

HAHA okay I was clearly not thinking straight when I made this account two years ago.

Fate played with me today. :|

Today was yet another day of adventure.

So there. We've been attempting to go to Benilde to be able to do some research for our thesis. We tried our luck last Saturday but we weren't able to research because we came too late. The guy librarian said that we could come back next week. So we wouldn't waste the trip we made, we decided to go to Ortigas and look for the British Council, thinking that they have books on Shakespeare since they were the British Council right. :| So we spent like 45 minutes walking around Ortigas looking for the place and when we found it guess what? THEY DIDN'T HAVE BOOKS ON SHAKESPEARE COZ THEY DONATED THEM. :|

We went last Friday to Benilde again after coming from Makiling but we weren't able to go in again because they didn't allow visitors on Fridays. Tengsalot. :| :|


They said the third time's the charm so we tried today. We made sure we'd get there before twelve. I took the jeep to go to the MRT. When I got to the station, I realized that I lost a hundred bucks. Must've slipped out of my pocket or something. I didn't eat breakfast yet so I grabbe a donut. When we got off the MRT to go to the LRT, I realized that I lost my 50 peso bill too. :| HAHAHA I shrugged it off again. It was my fault for wearing pants that had a not-so-deep pocket so I couldn't really do much.

We arrived at Benilde at 11 something! But we had to do some thing at the accounting office. But then when we went to the office we had to get some statement of account paper thing, so we went to the library and asked for the statement of account thing, but we had to go to the office of the head of the library. After going there, we went back to the library to get the statement of account. :| HAHAHAHA Then we went to the accounting office to pay. We managed to finish it at 11:45. yay! =)) :>

So there we went to the library and started to research. They didn't have a photocopying machine in there so we had to bring it out to have it photocopied. Since we weren't students of Benilde we couldn't bring them out.... so... we did the copying OLD SCHOOL... with our hands.. 8-| Imagine.. four hours of reading and writing.. Plus the library was frikin COLD. :| tengsalot. :| We did manage to get a lot of research so it was okay. :))) Our next problem though was if we would be able to understand our handwriting. Towards the end of our research, our penmanship sucked. :|

It was 4:00. We went to Jollibee to have lunch. Yes, lunch and halfway through my meal a big greenish shiny bangaw flew into my drink. O__o I got a new one though so it was cool :))) Then three-fourths-way through my meal my fork fell. I finished my food struggling with a spoon because I was too tamad to ask for another one.

We rode the LRT going home and as we walked to the MRT I realized that I lost my ID. :| Ha-ha. What an interesting day, I'm too tired to even rant about the unfortunate stuff I mentioned. I didn't have enough energy to react negatively about it either. I'd just go "Oh well" or shrug.

It's just creepy to think that yesterday while I was at the MRT station waiting for the train,
I suddenly started to wonder when the Pinoy Gossip Girl will come out since the real Gossip Girl seems like such a hit and all. Damn, I didn't expect it to be existing already.

To add up to the WTF-ness of it all, they called it LIPGOSS. HELLO!!!! EW MUCH.
And goodness the video was so... poorly done full of speech patterns and indications.
The Chuck there was carrying a gun in his hands. Sige pa indicate it some more that you're a bad guy. :|  It's so clear who the Serenas, Blairs, Nates and Chucks are because they have pretty much the same profile. OH PLEASE. :| PLUS they already put in the person who controls the "LIPGLOSS WEBSITE". Okay why won't you at least leave the audience with mystery? Ugh. Why can't Filipinos focus on what we are good at? (copying is not counted. :|) Or find what we could be known for doing? We can do a lot better than this.

Each major did a choreography or their own version of SouljaBoy
incorporating the steps and elements used in their art field.

I just can ` t help it.

Okay last night, Clyde and I were at Eastwood. While waiting for Carisa, Georgia and Wowie, we decided to go to Power Station and play. When I found out that they were already there, we thought of playing one last game. After playing, I checked my phone for messages but

it was gone. :|

My bag was tiny so it didn ` t really take me a while to realize that someone got it. It was stupid of me to leave my bag opened while playing. So it was pretty much my fault. Clyde called my number and someone answered it. Clyde kept asking the same questions. She got annoyed and decided to give it to me.


@-) It was a loooooooooooong conversation and basically ginago ako. Here are some examples!

Me: May plano ka bang ibalik phone ko?
Him: Oo naman! Basta magkita tayo!
Me: (I was like oshit it ` s gone na talaga :|) Okay okay makikipagkita nga ako! Saan?
Him: Ikaw?
Me: Dito sa Eastwood.
Him: E! Sayang sa pamasahe ko!
Me: O edi babayaran ko! (not really:P)
Him: Baka magsama ka ng iba. Gusto ko tayong dalawa lang.
Me: Onga tayong dalawa nga lang! (I was all like  WTH) May kasama ba ako?

After more and more minutes of us saying pretty much the same things he hung up on me. I swear, I didn ` t feel way affected when I realized that my phone was gone. It was only when "Ken" started saying things like that.

We went over to Carisa and them.  I called my phone again. This time it was a shorter conversation, because it ended with the guy saying that he wasn ` t really going to give it back. Go figure. I kinda realized that when I found out that my phone was missing. :| My whole night just kinda went BOOM blagadagadag plok. I just went to Bed and spent money on.. stuff.. out of depression. HAHA

I feel so bad about the fact that my phone got lost. It ` s been with me for three years and seven days exactly. I got it on May 31, 2005. Oh yes I remember. It was important for me because it was the first time I bought a phone with my own money. Money I worked hard for to earn. It was the phone that, I promised myself, would be my High School phone. It sounds materialistic to be attached to a phone, but it was what it went through. Everyone in school associated that phone with me for I was the only one in school with that phone. It felt different. I also feel bad about the stuff in my phone. The messages and the contacts, the pictures and other stuff. My phone was what organized my life. God I hope the thief deletes everything in it. I ` d rather have it lost than in the hands of people I don ` t know.

Another thing I can ` t accept is the fact that of all places to lose it.. Oh come on! I lost it in EASTWOOD!!!!!!! It would be more acceptable if I lost it at the MRT or while commuting or something, but no! I lost it while I was out with friends in EASTWOOD! Hello? So is life that hard that even people in Eastwood go around stealing stuff from people? :| I just don ` t get it.


I am however thankful that nothing bad happened to us. After all, it ` s just a phone. I couldn ` t imagine if something more important than my phone was taken from me... Something like my LIFE? I am still lucky. At least now, since I wouldn ` t want my phone to be taken away from me, I ` ll be MORE careful! It was so stupid of me to assume that losing a phone was never gonna happen to me. Ha-ha. At least I learned something valuable.

Save Our Souls.

This year ` s Dulaang Sipat-Lawin is composed of 21 members.
We ` ve got 15 girls and six boys. kay SIX BOYS. :|
There are six in our batch and we ` re all girls.

So we need help, suggestions of plays that we could use for our graduating recital
wherein there are MORE girls than guys. HAHA all six of us have already played guys in
the previous recitals and since we ` re all girls, we ` re very into Feminism yeah. =))

So yeah, we ` ve got options but if anyone knows of any plays that has more women than men in it, please let us know.
We just need as many options as possible. Thank you. :D

deym words aren ` t enough to say here how nervous i feel right now for tomorrow.
i swear! i ` m cursed with worrying too much so it adds up to all the anxious-ness i ` m feeling. it ` s crazy. but i guess i ` m just afraid that i wouldn ` t be able to live up to the name of the fourth years in Makiling. there ` s just too much expectations and it drives me crazy! well, all those who have gone before us have said that Makiling life is fast. well, i ` ve always thought that life alone is fast so there ` s no surprise there i guess.

i hope at the end of this year we get to do what is expected of us and more. who wouldn ` t want to graduate from the mountain knowing that they deserve it right? i don ` t know about the others but I definitely do. here ` s to a rocking schoolyear.

You know what, I can't tell how I feel right now.
People who know about what happened a while back ask if I'm over it and I can honestly say now that I feel much better now. Frankly, after all those times when I found myself feeling miserable and having tears endlessly falling down, one morning I suddenly realized that I was tired of crying. All the wonderings just left me drained and weak. It was at that state of emotion did I realize that he was just never worth it.

When I gave my yes, everything that happened after that was a first for me and I was nervous. I didn't know if what I did was enough or right but nonetheless, I did what I thought was right. We only saw each other once and he had to leave. It was hard but I knew all along that it would be, however, I believed that I was going to pull through. I knew that I could make things last. I was right. Everything was perfect. We talked everyday. Sure I missed him but I knew I could handle it. I had all the strength in the world to keep it going but I missed one tiny detail in my perfect little equation, him. When he left for the country we both knew the challenge was harder now. Communicating with him was tough, and suddenly our talks became less frequent. I thought that it was because we were both busy so I let it pass. It was one day when I thought that he could actually be with another girl there and get away with it. I would never find out. That night, I saw an old magazine issue on my bed. Before going to sleep I read through it and came across an article on how to survive a breakup. When I finished reading it, I wondered to myself on when that article would come in handy for me. Who would have thought that it was going to be at that night. He texted me that night and ended it. I was shocked. Tears just kept on pouring that night and the next day and I guess that so far was the lowest point in my life. I kept on asking myself why and I just couldn't believe it.

A couple of months have passed since that incident and everything is still clear in my head. So clear yet a very distant memory. A lot has happened. Weeks after our breakup I found out that all the things he told me that night were mere BS. Oh how I wished he just told me that he fell for another girl. It would've been a lot easier. I felt so stupid and worthless. Wasn't I worth an explanation? A real explanation? I couldn't understand why he spared me from the truth. Hiding her from me just made everything worse.

I feel better now, believe me. I'm over the whole thing. I mean the girl he fell in love with left him after a month too, so you could say it put a smile on my face. I said that I feel better not because of that of course! I just do because I ended up feeling thankful about the whole thing for it gave me strength and a reason to say that I don't live a perfect life as opposed to what most people think of me. It helped me become stronger too because I feel confident that in the future, when someone else comes along, I have a better idea of how to handle things now. I won't be believing every single promise he lets go of. I learned that boys can say anything and feel so strongly about it but it's still possible for him to lose those feelings. It's better to just say uh huh and not let it sink in. Believe me.

So, I seem happy right? How could I say that I don't know how I feel right now? Well, there's a simple answer to it. He was my first love. I was thirteen when I met him. I didn't like him at first but he had this certain habit of texting me and sitting beside me at every opportunity he gets. Eventually, I started liking him too. A lot. It was one day when my friend told me that I loved him. I was fourteen. Well you see, I didn't believe that love was possible for people our age. We lacked enough emotional maturity for people to regard it as serious so I never took it seriously. So I ignored what my friend told me and said that I didn't. Our little thing ended because I guess he got tired of waiting. It was only a year after did I start questioning my own theory and well, I ended up deciding that I did love him. After that realization, I knew I've missed my chance and sort of forgot about him believing that if we were meant to be together it would happen. Fast forward to another year and we found ourselves talking to each other almost every night again like what we used to do. I saw myself falling again, and that time I knew that I was gonna let him know how I felt. Opportunity came and I seized it and I couldn't have been any happier. I discovered a new feeling because of him. A different kind of love that couldn't be given by my friends or family. It felt amazing to be someone's number one. It was a kind of bliss that I knew at that moment that I couldn't get from anyone else. I gave my heart to him. That is why letting go was extremely hard because I knew I had to fight to get my heart back. It was a war only I could battle and in the end, I was able to come home with my heart, yet it wasn't complete anymore. He had it and I couldn't get it back.

I have gotten over him. I am sure of it. I no longer love him but I will always care for him. After that incident, I tried my best to forget him but then I just gave up and realized that I just couldn't forget him because he taught me a very valuable lesson. I stopped trying after that. I don't think our paths will cross anymore because he's done too much damage. He stole my heart and broke it. Here I am putting the pieces back together but it's alright because I learn a little bit more about myself everytime I put two pieces together. I learned that it was my love for myself that helped me stop loving him for I knew that I didn't deserve the pain I was feeling. I wasn't supposed to feel that way so I stopped.

I have two emotions to work with, that's why I couldn't say how I feel. I don't want to love him nor hate him because neither would help me. I guess the safest answer would be that I feel empty. Well, it's only in that department do I feel empty but let me tell you that my life is pretty full of love from God my family and friends and as far as I'm concerned right now, those are things that matter to me the most.

I have like less than two weeks left for my summer and I have to start looking for my stuff again that I need for school. (After the end of every schoolyear I kinda just choose to leave them lying around 'til I start needing them for the next schoolyear) Well anyway, my searching is kinda starting and at 11 PM I am unusually going up and down the stairs of my house retracing my steps trying to figure out where I last used these things. Right now I don't really need them but the thought that I just can't remember is driving me to my ends! :|

Ugh the house is quiet already and the glowing miracle which most may refer to as a laptop was sitting pretty at the table staring at me as I frantically start up and down the staircase telling me to do otherwise and just sit in front of it and type instead.
